New book for Children: Meghadootam – Kalidasa’s Sanskrit Lyric Adapted for the Young Meghadootam is a lyric by Kalidasa, one of India’s most popular poets and, probably, its best-loved. In this book, the authors have tried to capture the spirit of the beautiful original work, especially for young readers. The story goes that a yaksha [demi-god], who was exiled from his heavenly kingdom in the Himalaya in north India, wanders to the far south. He misses his wife and decides to send a message to her through a passing rain cloud. The yaksha befriends the cloud messenger [Megha doota] and gives him directions to his Himalayan home. As the yaksha’s soliloquy takes from, we find ourselves being led through a detailed and beautiful description of India itself! Buy or Gift: book is available at: 'Periazhwar Kanda Kannan' – Sri Krishna as seen by Saint Periazhwar. Dravida Veda Sagaram – Vol III CD is now available.
